Our History
Captain J.L. Autry in 1891 gave us land and the church house along the South River. Captain Autry used the river as a means of transporting supplies. Our town and church were founded that year. 19 charter members including Rev. Underwood began ABC where the cemetery is now located. When it burned down due to a lightning strike another building was built and used for 54 years. It wasn’t until 1971 that we occupied the existing building. Our people are faithful and resilient. The river was used to deliver material supplies and later used for logging. This is a reminder to us that we desire to DELIVER the HOPE of the GOSPEL to our community. Our town is small, BUT WE HAVE HOPE! Hope that will meet the Gospel needs of Autryville, our community and around the world. Each of us is to take the hope of Christ and share it with others.
